Summer Family-FUN days will take place on the third Sunday of the month through September (June 21, July 19, August 16, and September 20), and will showcase a variety of farmers market activities for families to enjoy.
June’s Summer Family-FUN day will feature Father’s Day activities such as card making; a reading by Seattle-based author Katherine Pryor of Sylvia’s Spinach, from the bed of the old fashioned Pike Place Market farm truck; and planting micro-green seeds in an egg carton with the Apple Corps.
The Pike Place Market Foundation will also be offering a Father’s Day basket for $219 with a personalized Market Charm, bourbon, vodka or gin from 3 Howls Distillery and a gift certificate for 1 lb. of bacon from Don and Joe’s Meats.
The Market Charm provides the opportunity to engrave a personalized message to Dad. The charms will be installed on the new MarketFront expansion and create a lasting legacy for families. Proceeds will help provide opportunities for local shops, farmers, and artists, as well as housing and services for seniors and low-income neighbors.
The Pike Place Market Preservation & Development Authority (PDA) is a not-for-profit, public corporation chartered by the City of Seattle in 1973 to manage the properties in the nine-acre Market Historic District. The PDA is required to preserve, rehabilitate and protect the Market’s buildings, increase opportunities for farm and food retailing in the Market, incubate and support small and marginal businesses, and provide services and affordable housing for low-income people.
