Meera Rajagopalan is the Austin Editor for Miss A. A proud Longhorn, Meera earned her journalism degree from UT. Some of her hobbies include event planning, writing and baking. One Austin-based company is using water to help musicians and the music community.  American Music Water and Texas Music Water is more that just another bottle of water. It is something the communities rally around during events. We chatted with Dean Wolfe, founder of the companies.

Could you describe your business or brand?

American Music Water is a music company that promotes musicians and their music in various ways. Texas Music Water as well and that was our original brand of water for the State of Texas. American Music Water is our national brand. Our company is all about music the music community and our core philosophy is giving back. We have musicians that help promote our water because it helps them and the music communities. We give back to professional musicians that are in need. We give back to music students through organizations that help there music education as well as public school music programs. We also give back to wounded vets for free music therapy and music lessons. All through sales of American Music Water and Texas Music Water. We donate a portion of our proceeds from each sale of American Music Water and Texas Music Water. We sell our water wholesale to retailers and distributors. Music is what drives us to help others.

What sets the business or brand apart?

Music. Music is the engine that drives American Music Water and Texas Music Water. People understand that music students and some professional musicians need help out there. Most water is just for hydration purposes. Our water serves a dual purpose. Hydration plus giving back to the music community. Our company has fun brands that help people and the music is what makes if fun and special.

When and who founded the business or brand? Dean Wolfe in 2010.

What achievements is the business or brand most proud of?

Really the support of most everyone we talk with likes our water. The supporting musicians that have helped us promote American Music Water and Texas Music Water from stage or just telling people. It is really awesome to see people, retailers, music venues, schools and more rally around our water. More specifically would be we have a national bottler and we earned that through showing them that people are passionate about our water. So the expansion of American Music Water is and will be a great American beverage that all the music fans in America can be proud of. Also for Texas Music Water we think it is great that the Convention Center in Austin now sells our water and also ACL live as well as hundreds of retailers.

Which nonprofits does the business or brand support?

American Music Water donates to MusiCares that helps professional musicians nationwide. Warrior Cry Music Project that helps wounded vets around the country with music therapy and music lessons. W.O. Smith Music School in Nashville, TN.

Texas Music Water donates to HAAM that helps professional musicians with health care needs in Austin. Sims Foundation that helps musicians with psychological needs in Austin. Anthropos Arts that gives low income area students free music lessons from professional musicians. Warrior Cry Music Project that help wounded vets in Texas with music therapy and music lessons.

How do these causes relate to the business or brand?

They relate because our American and Texas Music Water brands are all about music and so are all the causes we donate to, again it is all about music and helping musicians. Young and older. That is our cause.

What cause marketing products or services does the business or brand sell?

We sell American Music Water and Texas music water for the cause. Also we have an apparel line now.

What percentage of revenue goes toward helping others?

We give back 25 cents per each case sold. Every four cases sold, is one dollar given back to help our music communities.

What annual fundraising events do you participate in?

Austin Hot Sauce Fest, some HAAM and Sims events so far.

How can people get involved with your business or brand giving back?

If you like music and want to help our give back all you have to do is drink our water. That is the beautiful thing is it is that easy for music fans to help our cause. Hydrate plus give back at the same time. So by asking for it everywhere is how people can get involved. Wherever you buy water ask for it. From the grocery stores to concerts, clubs and music oriented events. Asking for the American Music Water and Texas Music Water helps change lives. Also by telling your friends and family to ask for it everywhere will help a musician or a music students. It is one of the great water brands in American history now we need to make history by making it one of Americas most popular bottled water brands ever. We all will win and together we can make a difference.
