New Orleans based children’s cancer charity Hogs for the Cause this week issued their first Atlanta-area grant. On May 19, Rene Louapre, Zandy Rainold, and Becker Hall announced that they had awarded $2,500 to an 11 year old from Stockbridge suffering from Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, a form of pediatric brain cancer. This gift will go towards the purchase of a Milford Person Lift, which will allow the child to travel more easily.
Hogs for the Cause is a 501(c)(3) organization providing aid and relief of those variable expenses and economic burdens which families face while their child is being treated for pediatric brain cancer. Currently, Hogs For The Cause operates as the premier funding source for pediatric brain cancer outreach services in the United States and has given grants to over 100 families in need. Named one of the Ten Best BBQ Festivals across America by Delish.com, the annual Hogs for the Cause fundraising event includes: an exclusive gala dinner and auction; the Ben Sarrat, Jr. “High on the Hog” Cook-off presented by Children’s Hospital; and a music festival featuring local talent and regional favorites.
This grant comes in advance of next week’s Hogs for the Cause fundraiser hosted by Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q and Taqueria del Sol. Hogs for the Cause operates as the premier funding source for pediatric brain cancer outreach services in the United States. The “Foxeria del Sol” team has raised more than $54,000 for the charity and this May 28 dinner will serve as an additional fundraising opportunity along with the annual Hatch Chili Festival in August.
Foxeria del Sol will kick off at 6:30 p.m. with passed appetizers and beverages provided by Cathead Vodka and Abita Brewing Company. Following the cocktail reception, guests will enjoy a collaborative four-course menu of sweet and savory dishes prepared by Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q, Taqueria del Sol, and special guests Rene Louapre, Zandy Rainold, and Andrew Shuford from New Orleans, representing Hogs for the Cause.
Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q is an award-winning barbecue restaurant located just south of Little Five Points in Atlanta. They are known for their unique Southern-style barbecue with Texas flair. Fox Bros. proprietary Bar-B-Q sauce has become famous for its “Sweet with Heat” flavor – tomato-based with a healthy splash of vinegar, a subtle blast of Texas heat, and touch of sweetness.
Taqueria del Sol offers innovative and cross-cultural menu selections in a relaxed, approachable atmosphere. Chef Hernandez uses only the freshest of ingredients, and spices up his menu with weekly taco and seafood specials.
