On Friday June 12, 2015 Attorney’s Serving the Community (ASC) an organization of 400 women lawyers will be hosting their 29th annual luncheon at the Omni Dallas Hotel to help benefit Helping Restore Ability (HRA), a nonprofit organization that gives support and services for persons with disabilities. The luncheon’s keynote speaker will be Dick Hoyt of Team Hoyt. Hoyt is part of a popular father-son racing team. The HRA is close to Dick Hoyt as his son, Rick was diagnosed with a spastic quadriplegic with cerebral palsy due to complications of oxygen deprivation during his birth. Both father and son have participated in over 1,000 races, marathons, triathlons and 6 Iron Man competitions. Rick was told by many naysayers that he could never live a “normal” life, yet he still was able to graduate from Boston University with a degree in Special Education, he attended public school and has been racing and participating in a myriad of athletic events with his father since 1977.
This year’s honorary chair is Dr Logan Sherman, a well respected figure in the Dallas medical and running communities. He was named DFW runner of the year in 2012, he has participated in numerous local competitions including Half Marathons, Marathons and Ultramarathons. He is currently training to compete in the 2016 Olympic Marathon Trials! The Co-Chairs are Kelli Hinson, a partner with Carrington Coleman and Cortland Grynwald, who is the Managing Director, Recruiting and Business Development with Newhouse + Noblin Legal and Executive Search.
Hinson stated: ‘The mission of Attorneys Serving the Community is to bring together woman lawyers to combine their time, talent, and resources in support of local nonprofit organizations whose programs benefit women, children, and families. We are so excited to be working with Helping Restore Ability this year. The money raised by ASC will allow HRA to assist hundreds of addition families in our community, and enable HRA’s clients to live more independent lives.”
Helping Restore Ability (HRA), goal is to offer in-home assistance to low income persons living with disabilities. They provide training to caregivers, help families discover resources available and provide care. The overall goal is to help restore independence, freedom, and dignity to those adults, children and families who are living with a disability, whether it is physical, developmental, or intellectual. HRA provided nearly 1.5 million hours of service last year.
Don’t miss out on being a part of this wonderful inspiring luncheon that will help those dealing with disabilities.
