On Friday May 1, 2015, Animal Care & Control of NYC hosted it’s 8th Annual Spring Fling at the prestigious National Arts Club. Procceds from the evening will go to programs which aid in helping misplaced animals find loving homes.
This fun filled night brought out over 250 animal lovers who enjoyed music by DJ Erik Rydju, light appetizers, a vodka bar provided by Hangar 1, and a live auction provided by Christie’s auctioneer, Katelyn Norris. Many guests stayed longer than expected on the red carpet to welcome the opportunity to hang out with furry friends of the mobile adoption van for the Animal Care & Control of NYC.
The star studded night continued with special guest appearances by Shangela, star of RuPaul’s Drag Race Seasons 2 and 3; co-hosts Kevin de 1’Aigle—AC&C adopter, volunteer, donor, and Director of Sustainability and Community Investment for COMO Hotels, and Emmy® Award-winning stylist and best-selling author David Zyla; AC&C supporters. The live auction featured some amazing prizes which included a 4 night stay in the 5-star exclusive Parrot Cay in Turks and Caicos, a signed Modern Family Script from all the cast members, and a Mulberry Bag.
Remarkably, Animal Care & Control of NYC (AC&C) is the only open-door animal welfare organization in NY, which takes in around 30,000 animals each year and is one of the largest animal welfare organizations in the country. Unlike other animal rescue organizations which often reject certain cases of homeless or injured animals, the Animal Care & Control of NYC will accept all homeless, abandoned, injured or sick animals in need no matter what the circumstances are. These animals usually are cats, dogs, rabbits, small mammals, reptiles, birds, farm animals and other wildlife.
Executive Director Risa Weinstock’s thank you speech was memorable and promising focusing on the changes and inititiaves that the Animal Care & Control of NYC is putting into place. She stated that the,“Animal Care & Control of NYC is stronger than ever, more determined than ever and committed every day to give the animals in our shelters the best chance possible to find a forever home.” Weinstock briefly mentioned there are big plans in 2015 to keep the organization moving in a positive direction with increasing adoptions while enhancing the level of care for animals at the AC&C of NYC. Some of these initiatives are the new mobile app for the IPhone which provides the only official listing of AC&C animals available for adoption, while
The New Hope program is AC&C’s proactive community initiative aimed at finding homes for New York City’s unwanted pet population. To accomplish this, AC&C establishes and cultivates mutually beneficial and productive relationships with cat, dog, rabbit and exotic animal placement organizations that assist and partner with AC&C in placing animals, many of which may require specialized medical care or behavior training.
Top Dog Sponsors that made this all happen were Aithon Capital, Best Pet Rx, Merck Animal Health, Bravecto, Fenwick Keats Real Estate, and UBTQ Finance.
