Miss A Columnist

Michelle Taubman is a charity correspondent for Ask Miss A. She is passionate about fashion, healthy living, writing, non-profit, and inspiring others. Her mottos to being successful are the two B’s, always “be yourself “ and “believe in yourself.” Without these two fundamentals she would not have had the courage to go off on her own and form her own consulting business in 2011, formerly known as Tru Beauty Consulting and today is called The Frugal Fashionite www.frugalfashionite.com. Due to the popularity of The Frugal Fashionite, she has recently expanded into the health market, launching another brand called Zen On A Plate, www.zenonaplate.com. Both blogs allow Michelle to consult and partner up regularly with companies that need media and communication services in both areas of interest. She also holds a New York Real Estate license where she works as an agent helping buyers and sellers find properties in NYC.

When she is not writing away or finding a space for others to call their home or office, she can be found working out, reading, doing yoga, traveling, cooking, exploring new places in NYC, and being outdoors. She received her Bachelors of Science from Miami, OH, and her favorite experience in college was studying abroad in Luxembourg which gave her not only the opportunity to travel among to ten countries, but see the world from a different lens. One day she hopes to set up a non profit foundation with her brand Zen on A Plate that will provide hunger relief to those in third world countries or assist lower income families in the US that don’t have the means to properly feed their kids the best nutrition.

RemarkablyAnimal Care & Control of NYC (AC&C) is the only open-door animal welfare organization in NY, which takes in around 30,000 animals each year and is one of the largest animal welfare organizations in the country. Unlike other animal rescue organizations which often reject certain cases of homeless or injured animals, the Animal Care & Control of NYC will accept all homeless, abandoned, injured or sick animals in need no matter what the circumstances are.  These animals usually  are  cats, dogs, rabbits, small mammals, reptiles, birds, farm animals and other wildlife.

Executive Director Risa Weinstock’s thank you speech was memorable and promising focusing on the changes and inititiaves that the Animal Care & Control of NYC is putting into place. She stated that the,“Animal Care & Control of NYC  is stronger than ever, more determined than ever and committed every day to give the animals in our shelters the best chance possible to find a forever home.” Weinstock briefly mentioned there are big plans in 2015 to keep the organization moving in a positive direction with increasing adoptions while enhancing the level of care for animals at the AC&C of NYC. Some of these initiatives are the new mobile app for the IPhone which provides the only official listing of AC&C animals available for adoption, while

The New Hope program is AC&C’s proactive community initiative aimed at finding homes for New York City’s unwanted pet population. To accomplish this, AC&C establishes and cultivates mutually beneficial and productive relationships with cat, dog, rabbit and exotic animal placement organizations that assist and partner with AC&C in placing animals, many of which may require specialized medical care or behavior training.
