With big fancy Derby hats aplenty and Salado mint juleps in hand, attendees at the 14th annual Polo on the Lawn enjoyed live thoroughbred action on the 10 acre polo field, then gathered in the covered pavilion to watch the Kentucky Derby simulcast on flat screens. The traditional champagne divot stomp was literally a “Bon Affair“, with Eric Dorton and the Ladies Polo Auxiliary pouring the healthy alternative to wine, wine spritzers with added electrolytes, as seen on ABC’s Shark Tank.
A plated dinner from nearby Prairie House, the area’s most popular restaurant, was served by Café Momentum interns to VIP ticket holders while they enjoyed a second polo match where Prestonwood Polo Clubs Polo School students showed off their talents. Best Dressed Contests are a big part of this annual event and celebrity judges Dawn Neufeld ( Mrs. Frisco, former cast of Football Wives and the Broadcast, attorney), Victoria Snee ( author The Beauty Buzz, radio show co-host) and last years Best Hat winner Cindy Swinford ( Miss Texas Teen USA judge) had their work cut out for them. A dress to impress event, Polo on the Lawn guests really bring it!
Among the winners were Candice Taylor walking away with Best Dressed Woman and a gift from Bohemian Gems, Gina Marx and hubby will enjoy dinner at Eddie V’s and Best Hat went to none other than Miss Prestonwood Polo Club’s Ameera Swaidan who is thrilled to have Binzario Couture make her a custom chapeau for next seasons hat events. The evening was finished with live music as Eric Reagan Dorton played blues into the night. Founder and executive director of this years beneficiary Café Momentum’s Chad Houser said, “We are not only grateful for Polo On The Lawn selecting us as their beneficiary, but also grateful to share an experience with our interns that they would have otherwise never been afforded.”
