Texas 4000 Atlas Ride 2015 To Benefit MD Anderson Cancer Center

Each year, a very special group of University of Texas at Austin students set off on a mission. A 70-day mission to be exact. The Texas 4000 team will start their journey to Anchorage, Alaska on May 30. The Texas 4000 Atlas Ride allows friends, family and supporters ride the first 25, 50 or 70 miles with the team. And they are “fighting cancer with every mile.”

As riders make their way to the finish line of the Atlas Ride, there will be a post-ride festival with barbeque, live music, a presentation by the Texas 4000 team, and so much more at the Texas Legato Winery. This will mark the beginning of the summer ride for the 2015 Texas 4000 team. They’ve spent the whole year planning and prepping for this journey.

This year about 78 riders will make the  12th journey from Austin to Alaska, taking three different routes. Started in 2004, Texas 4000 has raised more than $4 million to date, and has donated more than $1 million to fund cancer research at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

WHEN: Saturday, May 30, 2015 from 8 a.m. –  4 p.m.
