For the seventh year, Austin’s Well Aware presents its 2015 Shower Strike. Each year, volunteers across the globe unite and vow not to shower for one week or until they raise $1,000. With just $1,000, strikers are giving the gift of water to 110 people.

This year, the strikers hope to raise $150,000. The money will go towards  life-saving water systems in Africa. For the people the strikers are helping, a clean drink of water is a luxury, and a shower is unheard of.

Through the years, strikers have found various ways to “keep clean and fresh,” before their friends help get them to $1,000. In 2013, TOMS founder Blake Mycoskie, kept fresh with car fresheners.

Some of the sponsors of the event include:  Cazamance, Thirsty Planet Brewing,  Greenbelt DJ, Kendra Scott, Vuka, CauseVox, Fellgroup and The Traveling Photo Booth.
