The Miami-Dade County Fair & Exposition, known to locals as The Youth Fair, opened for its 64th year on Thursday, March 12. The fair, sponsored by KIA Motors of North America, Coca-Cola and Sedano’s Supermarket, will be entertaining guests until Sunday, April 5th. The Youth Fair is the largest fair in Florida, and it does not disappoint with all of the fun offerings. The fair caters to all ages and interests, so everyone is guaranteed to have an enjoyable time.
There are over 90 rides at the fair, which is certain to keep the fun going. The Ferris Wheel offers riders a bird’s eye-view of the entire grounds and is breathtaking when lit-up at night. For the thrill seekers, the fair has plenty of heart pounding rides such as the Tilt-a-Whirl, Scrambler, Swing Ride, Kamikaze and Air Race.
For the pint size adventurer, The Youth Fair has two Kiddie Lands that feature roller coasters for younger attendees, slides for everyone and fun. Also not to miss is The Royal Hanneford Circus, included in admission, you won’t miss the white big top tent.
There are tons of classic fair foods and other amazing treats to enjoy. New this year Beer Haven, a new area that showcases Florida craft beer breweries and microbreweries, there are over 60 beers on tap to try. If you want to learn more about beer every Saturday there will be a special beer festival.
For animal lovers, stop by the free petting zoo to enjoy a hands-on experience. Cheer on your favorite ham at the Show Me Safari Pig Races. It was definitely fun and is worth checking out. I had never been and it was clear why the show drew huge crowds. The nearby World of Agriculture showcases livestock and agricultural competitions. Cowtown is back this year and it is twice and big for twice as much fun.
Attention Shoppers! The fair does not exclude you from having a grand time flexing your spending muscles. In Arnold Hall, there are rows of vendors and booths to visit. Shop for jewelry, accessories, home items, children’s toys, or discover a local business to help with home and personal needs.
The Youth Fair is absolutely worth checking out and enjoying, I went during the day and stayed well into the evening. Parking is free and located directly on the grounds, so there is no hassle to get right in. It was such a good time, that my family is returning to re-visit our favorite rides and shows, as well as those we missed the first time. I dare you not to enjoy yourself.
