The best of Austin spirits and food came together for the sold-out 2015 Official Drink of Austin. At the end of the night, Garage was given the 2015 title as the Official Drink of Austin with their Indian Paintbrush, featuring Dripping Springs Vodka and fresh flavors of grapefruit, lime and rosemary. The money raised from the evening went towards culinary grants. In addition to ticket sales. local artist Leah Chyma painted the beautiful skyline that was auctioned off and won by Jack Gilmore.
The judges for this year’s event were Jason Kosmas, cofounder of The 86 Company and a pioneer of the classic cocktail scene in New York City; Gilmore, chef and owner of Jack Allen’s Kitchen; JD Elliott, last year’s Official Drink of Austin winner and bartender at qui restaurant; Dan Gentile, writer for Thrillist; and Austin’s own singer/songwriter Gina Chavez.
Lick, a Miss A favorite, had a wonderful Bruleed Orange and Bourbon Ice Cream that was a great way to start the night. The bourbon came from the Garrison Brothers Distillery. The two were placed next to each other so guests could enjoy the ice cream and bourbon together.
A new favorite is Delysia Chocolatier. This wonderful chocolate shop in Northwest Austin has some of the best handmade chocolate. There were so many choices at the event and they all tasted amazing. This sweet tooth was also very satisfied with the Fruity Pebbles Macaroon and the Pretzel Magic Bites from Delish. Both treats had just enough sweetness without being overpowering.
