On Monday, February 23, 2015, join Tiger Blossom at the Uncommon Gallery for a showing of the Breast Cancer Awareness Body Painting Project (BCABPP). The BCABPP is an ongoing project created by Michael Colanero to raise awareness of breast cancer. Each survivor’s body is painted with a base image and subsequently photographed by Colanero.
Currently, BCABPP is working to create a coffee table book with 50 survivors’ images and stories. Thus far, 27 women have been painted. Their portraits are on exhibit at the Uncommon Gallery.
In addition to enjoying the portraits, attendees will learn about thermography, the infrared imaging tool used to detect breast cancer, and enjoy enjoy juices and bites from Hummingwell Wellness Bar, chair massages, shopping with local vendors and many amazing door prizes from Exquisitely You Cosmetic Tattooing, LLC; Elite Smile Whitening by Lacy; Accessorize With Phyliss and many others.
Five cancer patients or survivors will be randomly selected to receive a makeover and photo shoot at the event, courtesy of Michael Colanero, Makeup Artistry by Tracie and Nadine Ford.
Proceeds will fund Tiger Blossom’s monthly workshops for cancer patients and survivors that provide tips for a healthy lifestyle and promote positive body image.
Tiger Blossom was founded by Natalie Hatjes with a vision of making life easier for women who are battling cancer. Tiger Blossom offers women garments and clothing options to help them feel their best. The organization also hosts events and offers information, support, resources and advice. The company has partnered with several local organizations and businesses to provide its clients with yoga and fitness classes, cooking classes, beauty workshops and luncheons.
