She grew up in a small, mountain town in Southern California, sandwiched between an older sister and a younger brother. When you think of Seattle, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? For many living outside Washington, it’s the drab color of gray, symbolizing the clouds and rain that often fill the skies over the city, especially during the winter months. Let those ideas of gray skies be washed away with the vivid and beautiful colors of the Northwest Flower & Garden Show, sprouting up at the Washington State Convention Center February 11-15 for its 27th year!

Join the Arboretum Foundation on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 to kick off the show with its annual Opening Night Party. This year, the Foundation celebrates Valentine’s Day with the theme, “Romance Blossoms.”

The party will feature a lavish silent and live auction with prizes such as travel packages, dining and theater experiences, exclusive garden tours,  hiking adventures, and wine tastings.

The “Fund-A-Need” portion of the live auction will raise money for the Arboretum’s  volunteer program. Foundation staff spend many hours each year recruiting, training, supervising, and working with the more 600 volunteers—supporting what they do for the Arboretum.

A delicious buffet dinner and dessert and complimentary parking for one car in the Convention Center garage will be available for all guests. Patrons and Benefactors will receive additional benefits, including reserved table seating for dinner on the main garden floor. Benefactors will also receive two tickets to the Garden Show and a special gift.

Proceeds for the Opening Night event benefit the Arboretum Foundation. The Foundation promotes, protects and enhances the Washington Park Arboretum for current and future generations by strengthening and building a diverse and engaged community of donors, volunteers and advocates.
