Spandana Singh is the San Francisco Editor and Tech Editor for Miss A. Better known as Spandi, she is a junior at UC Berkeley with an avid passion for foreign affairs and journalism. Originally from India, she has so far lived in countries like Kenya, Italy, Ethiopia, the United States and Indonesia and looks forward to living in many more.

Spandi is pursuing a double major in International Development and Media and a minor in Global Poverty and Practice. She loves to play the piano, box, travel, explore new cultures (especially their cuisines), and spend time with her friends. By the time she is 30 she wants to have lived in every habitable continent in the world.

Compassionate Chefs Café To Host All That Glitters Benefit Gala In San Francisco

The Compassionate Chefs Café is a nonprofit organization that seeks to uplift and improve the lives of children in the Bay Area as well as abroad. The organization collaborates with the Tenderloin After School Program (TASP) and the Gandhi Ashram in Ahmedabad, India which embodies Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals of non-violence and universal education, to provide children in these communities with the resources they need to succeed and be empowered.This month, the Compassionate Chefs Café, which hosts a plethora of creative and unique fundraisers, is hosting All That Glitters, a benefit gala that will benefit the organization’s two beneficiary communities. The event will be hosted by Chef Ranjan Dey of the New Delhi Restaurant and Indian Weddings Magazine and is sure to be like nothing you have ever seen before.

The edutainment gala will feature the unveiling of the latest Indian Wedding Trends of 2015 as well as presentations and lecture sessions by the Indian Weddings Magazine’s Publisher Arushi Sinha and chef and owner of the renowned New Delhi Restaurant, Ranjan Dey. The evening will include a mouthwatering multicourse Indian wedding meal prepared by Dey himself as well as drinks provided by Officer’s Choice Portfolio (who is contributing a rare Indian whisky) and Flood Family Vineyard who are providing wines.

The night will also include a variety of exciting activities and performances. Attendees will be surrounded by floating models dressed in the hottest and latest Indian wedding attire and accessories, styled by VAMA’s Bridal Couture, PNG Jeweler’s USA and many more other groups, and they will also have the opportunity to get henna designs and take dance lessons. There will also be live entertainment, which will feature a Bollywood dance performance, as well as some award presentations. The night will end with a DJ, some exhilarating music and dancing.
