LUSH Cosmetics Campaign To Make #FurHistory And End Animal Cruelty

Each year, approximately 100 million animals are killed for their furs by the global fur trade. Because of the high demand in countries such as Canada, the United States, Russia, China, and the majority of European countries, the fur industry has thrived.

For the short lives of beautiful creatures such as minks, foxes, and raccoon dogs, they are imprisoned in small cages, never knowing what freedom feels like. Their deaths are just as cruel, as they are either electrocuted or gassed just before their birthdays. Later, their skins are removed and used as embellishments for much of the fashion industry.

The fight to protect these precious animals began in the 1930s, when virtually no one really knew or cared about being fur-free. People passionate about a fur-free industry wrote a letter in British Columbia and Ontario, stating that they believed using steel-jawed leg-hold traps to catch animals was cruel and wanted to find a better solution. Their passion led to the birth of an organization focused on ending cruel traps: The Association for the Protection of Fur-Bearing Animals (APFA).
