Amber Lynch is City Editor for Charlotte and Charleston. She is passionate about family, fashion, food, wine, books and giving. She is a published poet and author of the children’s book, Where Did Grandlee Go. The unexpected loss of her father brought an appreciation for the mere moments in life. She grew up in Charleston, South Carolina cultivating a fondness for southern style and Lowcountry cuisine. Her father founded a restaurant business that is still family run. While the beaches and beauty of the Carolina coast kept her captivated she yearned to explore beyond the comforts of home. Amber found herself in New York City working for Tiffany & Co. in Community Affairs and later as the Publicity Director for Rizzoli Publications. She met her husband in NYC. Longing for southern roots they relocated to Charlotte, NC. She has settled into the southern paced yet culturally enriched city. Since then she has worked as a public relations consultant and more recently as Director of Business Development for W by Worth. Raising three young sons keeps her busy, but grounded. She has adopted Charlotte as her home and is avidly involved in the community through church, schools and charities.

The 15th Annual Art With Heart Auction will showcase some of the nation’s most talented artists and provide important funding to assist women and children in crisis. The event will be hosted by Safe Alliance board member Erica Bryant of WSOC-TV.  Co-chairs of the event auction are Emily Netzel and Savannah Solomon. The event has raised over one million dollars for Safe Alliance over the past decade.

Safe Alliance supports victims of domestic violence, sexual violence and child abuse. They provide shelter, counseling, legal and advocacy services helping people build safe, healthy relationships.  It is widely known that one in four women will be affected by domestic violence, “but did you know that Charlotte Mecklenburg Police responded to more than 36,000 domestic violence related calls last year?” said Emily and Savannah.  “The Safe Alliance Domestic Violence Hotline answered 11,500 calls for help and information. Safe Alliance accompanied more than 4,200 women to court seeking domestic violence protective orders. The Clyde and Ethel Dickson Domestic Violence Shelter in Charlotte provided sanctuary to almost 1,000 women and children in life-threatening situations. The shelter has 80 beds and was opened almost two years ago. ”

The theme of the event this year is “In Our Backyard”. Safe Alliance is a critical asset to the community and deals directly with projects including domestic violence healthcare, domestic violence shelter and victim assistance and court services. The live and silent auctions raise necessary funds to support these projects.

The featured gallery for the auctions is the Shain Gallery, recently recognized by Charlotte Magazine as the “Best Gallery” in Charlotte.  Owned by Gabrielle Shain-Bryson and located in the heart of Myers Park, Shain represents over forty nationally and regionally acclaimed artists. The gallery is committed to supporting the arts within the community generously donating many premier pieces for the auctions.
