The 15th Annual Art With Heart Auction will showcase some of the nation’s most talented artists and provide important funding to assist women and children in crisis. The event will be hosted by Safe Alliance board member Erica Bryant of WSOC-TV.  Co-chairs of the event auction are Emily Netzel and Savannah Solomon. The event has raised over one million dollars for Safe Alliance over the past decade.

Safe Alliance supports victims of domestic violence, sexual violence and child abuse. They provide shelter, counseling, legal and advocacy services helping people build safe, healthy relationships.  It is widely known that one in four women will be affected by domestic violence, “but did you know that Charlotte Mecklenburg Police responded to more than 36,000 domestic violence related calls last year?” said Emily and Savannah.  “The Safe Alliance Domestic Violence Hotline answered 11,500 calls for help and information. Safe Alliance accompanied more than 4,200 women to court seeking domestic violence protective orders. The Clyde and Ethel Dickson Domestic Violence Shelter in Charlotte provided sanctuary to almost 1,000 women and children in life-threatening situations. The shelter has 80 beds and was opened almost two years ago. ”

The theme of the event this year is “In Our Backyard”. Safe Alliance is a critical asset to the community and deals directly with projects including domestic violence healthcare, domestic violence shelter and victim assistance and court services. The live and silent auctions raise necessary funds to support these projects.

The featured gallery for the auctions is the Shain Gallery, recently recognized by Charlotte Magazine as the “Best Gallery” in Charlotte.  Owned by Gabrielle Shain-Bryson and located in the heart of Myers Park, Shain represents over forty nationally and regionally acclaimed artists. The gallery is committed to supporting the arts within the community generously donating many premier pieces for the auctions.
