“Thank you for helping me find the strong woman within me.” Young Women Empowered participant

Young Women Empowered (YW-E) works with young women from diverse backgrounds to discover their potential as leaders in their schools, communities, and the world. YW-E’s leadership programs – Lead, Speak, and Write – reach over four hundred young women between the ages of twelve to nineteen in our community.

YW-E is currently collaborating with many of youth organizations such as New Futures, Neighborhood House, Ballinger Homes, Seattle & Shoreline High Schools, YMCA, Solid Ground, University of Washington. These partnerships ensure that women and girls in our region get access to leadership development and mentoring programs as many organizations have had to make funding and program cuts.

Young Women Empowered provides more than a “classroom instruction” experience. Young women take part in fundraising, service projects and training so they can learn how to put their own ideas into motion. And the program builds long-lasting friendships and “positive girl-culture” between participants from different neighborhoods, religions, cultures, economic backgrounds and generations.

How can you help? Attend Ignite. You can help more even young women discover their potential by joining Young Women Empowered and other community leaders at Ignite, Young Women Empowered’s annual celebration of diversity, culture, and young women’s leadership. The fundraiser features a night of food bites from around the world, performances by program participants, and a unique opportunity to connect our amazing girls, donors, partners, and mentors.
