Get fit and give back this holiday season by coming out to the Sausalito Winterfest Run, an 8K, 5K, and 1K Run on December 14, 2014.
The event will allow the whole family to exercise and enjoy sights in San Francisco. The 8K race will begin at 8 a.m., while the 5K race will begin at 8:05 a.m. on a flat, downtown course that will feature views of Mt. Tampalpais, Angel Island, the San Francisco Bay, and the San Francisco City skyline. An additional one kilometer race for kids, the Kidz Fun Run, will take place as well.
All runners will receive a commemorative t-shirt and can purchase a commemorative, aluminum water bottle with a donation of fifty dollars or more. Kidz Runners finishers will receive a medal with the number ‘1.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Dipsea Kidz program and the Sausalito on the Waterfront Foundation. The Dipsea Kidz program, founded three years ago, works with at-risk youth. According to the Dipsea Foundation Board Chairman Merv Regan, the program “is making a difference in the lives of these youngsters in and out of the classroom. They have accepted and embraced the concept and excelled scholastically, athletically and as a team.” The Sausalito on the Waterfront Foundation is a non-profit that works to “promote and perpetuate the life and times of the San Francisco Bay and Sausalito Waterfront.” Both organizations work hard to serve youth in the Bay Area community.
