The fall in San Francisco always entices me to bundle up in the clothes I’ve been waiting all summer long to wear, and do some good old fashion wandering around the city.

So why not wander over to celebrate a great cause and check out some fantastic art right in the heart of the Mission District? Join Co-chairs Steven Miller and Martha Angus for DIFFA NOW, a cocktail reception on Thursday, November 20th, celebrating 30 years of giving by DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS).

The event will showcase a curated gallery of 30 designs created by top Bay Area designers offered for sale in a silent auction. Pieces in the showcase will reflect the 30th anniversary theme, by capturing the importance of this cause in the past, present and future.

DIFFA provides fundraising support for uninsured HIV/AIDS patients at the UCSF Positive Health Program at San Francisco’s General Hospital. According to DIFFA, “DIFFA Northern California was the first chapter organized outside of New York, about a year after the organizations founding in 1984. Bay Area DIFFA events have included numerous fashion shows, home and garden tours, a Designer Show House, HEARTSTRINGS, Tree of Hope, Pink Umbrellas, and for the past 13 years, DINNING BY DESIGN.

The event honors not only the medical progress made against HIV/AIDS over the last three decades, but also the countless volunteers that have dedicated their time, efforts and creativity in fundraising for this cause.  What a great idea to celebrate how far the organization has come as a community, their journey, and what they’ve accomplished for the people of the Bay Area.

Proceeds raised from the event will go towards supporting a 30th anniversary grant to the Positive Health Program at San Francisco General Hospital.  According to UCSF, “The program is an interdisciplinary organization of health care professionals providing HIV research, CME-accredited HIV education, and comprehensive HIV care through its renowned Ward 86 clinic, which serves more than a third of people living with HIV in San Francisco. “

So bundle on up and come out to support a create cause. Oh, and don’t forget to try some tasty bites and beverages from some of the Bay Area’s top chefs, mixologists, and vineyards.

Notable supports include: California Healthcare Foundation, The NWBLK, AIDS Healthcare Foundation, Mission Wellness Pharmacy, Sherwin-Williams, Rapt Studios, Lim Gallery, Gensler, and many others.
