Miss A Columnist

Samita Dutta is a San Francisco Charity Correspondent for Miss A. Her hometown is near Sacramento, California, and she is a sophomore at UC Berkeley with a passion for service. In high school, she conducted outreach for various causes, and she currently volunteers at the UC Berkeley Student Legal Clinic, where she gives free options to clients who have legal problems. One of her life goals is to continually help the environment. She led her high school’s recycling program for two years and led events to help clean up waste in her community. Also, she always makes sure the lights are off when she exits a room. Samita’s passion for service is coupled by her interest in journalism; in her hometown, she wrote for her local newspapers, and in college she served as the Blog Editor of UC Berkeley’s Hindu Student Council. She hopes to (possibly) be an attorney someday, as she likes to debate for justice. In her free time, she likes to try exotic foods, hang out with friends, listen to music, write in her journal, and travel just about anywhere. Her favorite activity is hanging out with her large family.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the 7 project teams in EWB-SF. The projects involve sustainable developments in Haiti, Honduras, Fiji, Nicaragua, Tanzania, and Kenya. Proceeds will also benefit EWB-SFP’s work at the local level, which involves developing simple engineering solutions with the Appropriate Technology Design Team (ATDT).
