Miss A Columnist

Samita Dutta is a San Francisco Charity Correspondent for Miss A. Her hometown is near Sacramento, California, and she is a sophomore at UC Berkeley with a passion for service. In high school, she conducted outreach for various causes, and she currently volunteers at the UC Berkeley Student Legal Clinic, where she gives free options to clients who have legal problems. One of her life goals is to continually help the environment. She led her high school’s recycling program for two years and led events to help clean up waste in her community. Also, she always makes sure the lights are off when she exits a room. Samita’s passion for service is coupled by her interest in journalism; in her hometown, she wrote for her local newspapers, and in college she served as the Blog Editor of UC Berkeley’s Hindu Student Council. She hopes to (possibly) be an attorney someday, as she likes to debate for justice. In her free time, she likes to try exotic foods, hang out with friends, listen to music, write in her journal, and travel just about anywhere. Her favorite activity is hanging out with her large family.

For music lovers, the event will boast live performances by local bands Mad Mama and the Bonafide Few. What’s more, there will be two raffles with many prizes, with a Dyson Vacuum Cleaner featured as the grand prize.

The Dog Day Afternoon event is hosted by Pawtrero, an independent, family owned, pet supply store founded in 2002. The business focuses on education and nutrition for pets, and provides a large selection of raw foods and holistic diets for both cats and dogs. In 2013, the company raised $5600 for local animal shelters through the Dog Day Afternoon event, providing an important service for animal shelters throughout San Francisco.
