The October 12, 2014 Seattle Seahawks game against the Dallas Cowboys was about more than just touchdowns and field goals.  It also raised thousands of dollars for Northwest Harvest, Washington’s own statewide hunger relief agency, through their 23rd annual Seahawks Tackle Hunger  event.  Northwest Harvest is dedicated to distributing food to the one in seven Washingtonians  that struggles with hunger.

Staff and volunteers were on hand at Century Link Field to collect donations at all gates before kickoff.  And the sold-out crowd gave big.

The event, sponsored by Delta Air Lines, raised over $34,000 and 3,200 pounds of food, with over 2,000 pounds of food donated by Campbell Soup. Northwest Harvest estimates the total will provide over 160,00 meals all across Washington.

“We’d like to thank Delta Air Lines, Campbell Soup, and the 12th Man for their generous donation,” said Jesse Swingle of Northwest Harvest.  “This is a great example of business and communities giving back.”
