Lesley Haenny is the Seattle Editor for Miss A. She is an Air Force wife now living in the Seattle area. Prior to living in Seattle, Lesley spent 7 years in Washington, DC, working as a Congressional liaison. She grew up in a small, mountain town in Southern California, sandwiched between an older sister and a younger brother. Her two hard working parents taught her to always go for the clearance rack, bring your lunch everyday, work hard for what you have, and always take the opportunity to travel and play outside. Lesley has been actively involved in various charities such as the Animal Resource Foundation, Komen For the Cure, Prevent Cancer Foundation, American Diabetes Association and the Race for Hope (benefitting the National Brain Tumor Society and Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure).

Hard Rock Seattle’s PINKTOBER Campaign For Susan G. Komen of Puget Sound

The Hard Rock Cafe Seattle is celebrating fifteen years of their PINKTOBER campaign.  Throughout the month of October, they will host live bands led by female vocalists, with a portion of all music ticket sales benefiting Susan G. Komen of Puget Sound.

The mission of Komen of Puget Sound is to fight breast cancer and save lives in Western Washington, and ultimately find a cure for the disease.  The local chapter is the sixth largest among 119 Komen Affiliates working in communities across the country and has invested over $28.6 million over the last 20 years to fund free breast cancer screenings and patient support for low income and underserved women in our community. Since its inception in 1994, over $9.5 million into medical research to find a cure for breast cancer.

You can show your support during the whole month of October by purchasing something from the 2014 PINKTOBER merchandise line including men’s and women’s t-shirts, with proceeds benefiting various breast cancer charities and 15% of the retail price going directly to research and awareness-driving efforts around the world. You can also purchase a special limited-time beverage offerings, including “Flight for the Cure,” a flight of Hard Rock’s pink margaritas. Flavors include Watermelon, Pomegranate and Wildberry and they are served with pink tortilla chips and house-made salsa. Other featured campaign drinks include Hard Rock’s new Red Berry Press, a sweet fruit cocktail served in a coffee-press style vessel that infuses fruit into the cocktail throughout the drinking process and a fresh, non-alcoholic Wildberry Smoothie.
