Need some motivation to exercise? Want to help a good cause? Look no further! On Sunday, October 19, you can run the Nike’s Women’s Half Marathon in San Francisco while benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
This year’s race will start at Union Square, with an estimate of over 25,000 runners. All runners will receive a t-shirt and six water stations will be placed throughout the race for the runners’ convenience.
As an added benefit, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training provides running preparation from certified coaches and training clinics for runners who fundraise for the cause. Training is open to everyone, from novices to professional athletes, and the fastest women within each age group will be rewarded for their accomplishments. Everyone participating is required to finish the race with (at least) a fifteen minute mile time.
The run will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the world’s largest health agency devoted to treating blood cancers. Their mission is to find a cure for blood cancers. Partnering with LLS, the Team in Training program has raised $1.4 billion for LLS’s research. Nike has partnered with LLS since 2004, and through the runs, has raised over 147 million dollars for LLS.
