By 2020, the American Heart Association hopes to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent on top of reducing deaths from heart attack and stroke by 20 percent. And this fall, you can be a part of it by participating in their annual Puget Sound Heart and Stroke Walk.
The non-competitve walk will bring together over 100 companies, including Costco Wholesale, Microsoft, Amazon and Swedish Medical Center, at the Seattle Center on October 11, to celebrate those that have made significant changes to their health while encouraging others to do the same.
The money raised for the 3-mile walk will go toward research and initiatives that promote the prevention, treatment and patient care in cardiovascular disease, the leading killer in the United States. While the event itself is free, participants are encouraged to fundraise as much money as possible. Walkers who raise $100 or more get a free t-shirt and those that raise $1,000 will be invited to a special VIP breakfast. Other great fundraising prizes range from water bottles and earbuds, all the way up to an espresso machine and flatscreen television!
