On October 25, 2014, the Lupus Foundation of America will be hosting a Walk to End Lupus Now, beginning at the Parkman Bandstand by the Boston Common. Thousands of participants are expected to attend, all to collectively work to fight lupus. The foundation plans to put donations towards lupus research and use the walk to spread awareness and gather support for those who are afflicted with this disease.
The one-mile walk around the Boston Common will commence at 11 a.m. after check-in and some opening remarks. Walkers are encouraged to sport purple attire (for the contest to ensue!), to promote the walk through their social media platforms with the #walktoendlupusnow, and to join the event’s facebook page. For some extra incentive, there will be plenty of Fundraising Prizes offered to both individual walkers and teams that have gone above and beyond in their fundraising efforts!
Lupus is a chronic, autoimmune disease effecting an estimated 1.5 million people in America. It is irregular and unpredictable, and places an enormous strain on the personal lives and overall health of those who struggle with it. The Lupus Foundation of America’s continued efforts have resulted in the contribution of millions of dollars towards lupus research, and they press on to find treatment, today.
