She is creative and has a passion for charity, volunteering to plan multiple charity galas and events. Dallas Children’s Theatre Announces Believe Creativity Contest Winners

During September 2014 through July 2015, The Dallas Children’s Theatre will showcase eleven shows that will foster the DCT beliefs, including imagination, power of creative decision making, and friendships. This summer, The Dallas Children’s Theatre invited children from grades Kindergarten-grade 12 to participate in the BELIEVE Contest. This allowed the opportunity for students from the Dallas Metro area to bring their original artwork. A team of judges were used to then create a selected number of winners who were honored awards at an award ceremony at the Rosewood Center for Family Arts on August 4, 2014.

A team of five judges reviewed over fifty entries from children ages 5 to 17. Eleven entries were to be chosen as the grand prize winners, and seven were to be honorable mentions. One of the judges, Linda Daugherty, an award-winning playwright herself, said, “How exciting to see the inventiveness, enthusiasm and creative spark of all the entries in the Believe Creative Contest!”

Amanda Maceda, Age 15

Entry: Fading Color of Life

Amanda, a ninth grader from Booker T. Washington High School believes we all need to protect and be aware of our environment. According to Amanda “Because of development to meet humans’ growing greed, the nature of this world is dying and being replaced with artificial objects that are cold and dull.” Amanda will be honored during opening night of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD on October 17, 2014.

Hailey Duggan, Age 7

Princessland

Hailey is a second grader who is participating in home schooling, believes, everyone should have the chance to go explore new places. Accoring to Hailey, “Adventures are exctiting, hard and fun all mixed together.” She will be honored at the opeing night of RAPUNZEL! RAPUNZEL! A VERY HAIRY FAIRY TALE on September 19, 2014.

William Croupe, Age 5

Magic Studio

William is a Kindergartener from Alex Sanger who believes that magic makes stuff come to life. William said, “Wherever magic goes it makes even more magic which makes things easier.” William will be honored at the opening night of FROSTY & FRIENDS on November 21, 2014.

Mimi Clot de Broissia, Age 9

Together Forever

Mimi, a fourth grader at dallas International School believes that adopting pets is a win-win. Accourding to Mimi, who is also a volunteer at an animal shelter, says, “I see animals go home with a loving owner and the owner gets a loyal friend.” Mimi will be honored at the opening night of MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET on November 21, 2014.

Zoe Born, Age 9

The Magic of Stories 

Zoe is a third grader at Stonewall Jackson who believes in magic. Zoe explaines, “Magic is fun and makes our world more beautiful.” Zoe will be honored at the opening night of the Lone Star Circus’ OH LA LA on December 27, 2014.

Adam Roth, Age 7

Machines

Adam, a third grader at White Rock Montessori, believes he can save the world with the power of his imagination and cool machines. According to Adam, “In my imagination, I have awesome adventures in faraway places. I pretend I’m Tarzan or a robot general or an inventor.” Adam will be honored at the opening night of SKIPPYJON JONES on January 23, 2015.

Malley Morales, Age 16

Believe in the Power of Choices

Malley is a tenth grader at Booker T. Washington High School who knows what it is like to be influenced by others’ deciosions. Malley says, “I want to show kids that it is okay to do what you know is right.” Malley will be honored at the opening night of TEEN BRAIN: THE MUSICAL on February 20, 2015.

Brooke Shortino, Age 10

Spread Your Wings & Fly

Brooke, a fifth grader at Cottonwood Creek Elementary, believes in family. Brooke says, “A family brings out the best in you and is always there to support you. They love you more than anyone.” Brooke will be honored at the opening night of THE TALE OF PETER RABBIT on March 13, 2015.

Claire Vaughn, Age 6

Under the Sea

Claire is a first grader at Hyer Elementary who believes in the unbelievable sea. According to Claire, “we get to swim in the sea and it is awesome to have.” Claire will be honored at the opening night of BALLOONACY on April 10, 2015.

Kerry Gleim, Age 13

The Choice is Yours

Kerry, an eighth grader at Mary Immaculate, believes in the power of choices. According to Kerry, “We all have the power to do the right or do wrong. We are what we choose.” Kerry will be honored at the opening night of JACKIE & ME on May 1, 2015.

Caroline Mennel, Age 8

I Believe in Imagination

Caroline is a third grader from Good Shepherd Episcopal who is happy when she imagines. According to Caroline, “I can go to another world when I imagine. I can be anyone I want to be.” Caroline will be honored at the opening night of THE MUSICAL ADVENTURES OF FLAT STANLEY on June 19, 2015.

Alyssa Fiedelman from Chooze Footwear & Accessories was present during the reception to celebrate with the artists. In addition to opening night show tickets, each grand prize winner will receive a custom prize package from Chooze including a creatively designed backpack, a lunchbox and a pair of shoes.

Dallas Children’s Theater, rated by TIME Magazine as one of the top 5 theaters in the nation performing for youth, features paid professional actors performing for an annual audience of 250,000 young people and their families through 9 main stage productions, an arts-in-education program, and a national touring company. DCT builds understanding of generations and cultures, includes an early appreciation of literature, and arts in tomorrow’s artists and patrons.
