Baltimore And Annapolis Weekend Guide: July 17 – 20, 2014

Show your support for women’s health at the inaugural event, BRAnanza, a whimsical, uplifting event to benefit the Fund for Excellence in Women’s Health and Medicine at Mercy Medical Center. In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of The Weinberg Center, home to all women’s health programs at Mercy, artists, businesses, and other local Baltimoreans have each decorated a bra, sized 36C, for display and auction at the festive “Cup”tail Party. Guests will enjoy live entertainment, food, drinks, and live and silent auctions as they browse over 60 embellished braziers, including a few Baltimore-themed beauties. Local organizations that lent their support and design to the event include The Tyanna Foundation, The Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation, La Cakerie, Clapp Communications, and many more. For those unable to attend Thursday’s cocktail party, the entire gallery of bras is open to the public during the day on Wednesday and Thursday.

Mariner Music Fest Flyer

Mariner Music Fest

Downtown Annapolis will be rockin’ and rollin’ for the Avergan Foundation at this weekend’s first annual Mariner Music Fest! The all-day event will feature live bands from noon ’til night, starting the afternoon with a family-focused selection of music just for kids on the Metropolitan rooftop. Little ones can sing and dance along with Music Together Chesapeake and The Singing Lizard while testing their own musical chops with kid-friendly instruments. The main event begins at 3 p.m. as local bands including Skribe, Shirkaday, Carl Reef, and What Happens in Vegas featuring Lez Warner take the stage to give the grown-ups a chance to dance. Avergan Foundation founders Tom and Allison Barnhill hope that this festival will be the first of many as it only continues to grow. “With autism spectrum disorders affecting so many families, we aren’t afraid to dream big,” Barnhill says.
