The Shedd Aquarium Auxiliary Board will host their annual BLU event for a Brazilian-themed “festa” on Saturday, July 26, 2014. The event raises essential funds to support Shedd’s animal care, conservation, learning and sustainability initiatives.
More than 1,000 of Chicago’s young philanthropists are expected to attend and will be treated to specialty cocktails and indulge in cuisine from more than 30 of Chicago’s premier restaurants before connecting with the living world during an aquatic show. To top the evening off, guests will enjoy dancing and fireworks on the Shedd’s lakeside terrace. Not ready to end the night? No problem! The official after-party will be held at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel (221 N. Columbus Drive, Chicago, 60601)
BLU forgoes traditional event waste, utilizing LED lights, compostable cutlery, plates and napkins for tastings, post-consumer or recyclable signage, and showcases the aquarium’s Right Bite program – serving only best choices for sustainable seafood at the event – all donated by partnering Chicago restaurants and seafood vendors.
