The popular high end cosmetics brand, Laura Mercier, is partnering with Glassybaby, known for their designer votives and drinking glasses that give back to multiple charities with every purchase, to support the Laura Mercier Ovarian Cancer Fund. Since May 8th (World Ovarian Cancer Day), and through the next 6 months, Glassybaby will add a new votive called Strength to their collection, and 10% of the purchase price will go towards the Laura Mercier Ovarian Cancer Fund.
When Laura Mercier’s President, Claudia Poccia, lost her sister to ovarian cancer, she set out to start the LMOCF to help spread awareness and fund efforts to treat and support women going through ovarian cancer. Glassybaby was created by Lee Rhodes when she was battling her third round of cancer while taking care of her three young children. She found solace in dropping tea lights into hand-blown glass holders as a way of stress relief and relaxation, and hired artists to create them to give them away as gifts. With an overwhelming response to the votives, she started selling them out of her garage, donating a percentage of the sales to charities that supported cancer patients. Today, Glassybaby has reached two million in charitable funds to multiple organizations.
