Bert’s Big Adventure started out in Atlanta through radio’s The Bert Show and now, every year, takes children with terminal illnesses and diseases to Walt Disney World®, with their families, on a magical, all-expenses-paid, five-day journey. The organization has now grown to all the listening areas of The Bert Show and this summer, has teamed up with several great community partners so you can support them through their different initiatives.

In May, head to Tin Lizzy’s for Cinco de Mayo. Their Buckhead and Mall of Georgia locations are having block parties on May 3rd, and their Perimeter location is hosting Sunday Funday on May 4th. Each block party has only a $10 cover charge. A dollar of each entry goes to Bert’s Big Adventure. Buckhead’s party is 21+ all day on the 3rd, Mall of Georgia and Perimeter are both family-friendly all day. All block parties will have live music, drink specials, contests and giveaways!

And then there is the 2nd annual Atlanta Moon Ride n June. A 6.5-mile night-time bike ride through Atlanta’s coolest neighborhoods with 100% of proceeds benefiting Bert’s Big Adventure! Gear up your bikes with a head lamp, bust out the flair (costumes encouraged) and get ready to ride the streets! This is your chance to safely cruise through Atlanta neighborhoods at night without having to battle traffic as the Atlanta Police Department will be supervising the route. This event is open to anyone, whether you’ve got a street or mountain bike, a wheel chair or a good ole cruiser. Bring the family – this is a fun ride, and is appropriate for any skill level.

Established in 2002, Bert’s Big Adventure is a 501(c)(3) non-profit Atlanta Moonrideorganization. To qualify for Bert’s Big Adventure, children must be between the ages of 5 and 12, live in “The Bert Show” radio listening area, prove financial need and have never been to Walt Disney World®. If you know a family who would be a good fit for Bert’s Big Adventure, applications are available until October 10 right here.

Following the annual trip, Bert’s Big Adventure provides year-round support through initiatives such as the Reunion Adventures, the Fairy Godparent volunteer program and additional charitable services. The trip and programs create a community of families that establish lasting friendships with others facing similar challenges.
