Founded in 2012, the New Orleans-based company seeks to support healthy child development through the delivery of eco-friendly, sustainable, and natural/organic toys right to your doorstep.
In the creation of Little Pnuts, “mompreneur” Melissa Pia Bossola Beese drew inspiration from her two sons. Born sixteen weeks early, Tristan was a micro-preemie, requiring special attention and care. Upon the birth of his brother, Finn, Melissa fully realized her desire to provide parents with tools for reaching every developmental milestone.
“We believe that toys provided to your Little Pnut every three months is optimal,” says Melissa, Founder and Owner. “Children learn best when given the tools that allow them to learn through play.” This belief applies not only to the well-being of individual children and families, but is also important for “protecting the future of our world.”
Little Pnuts provides four “special deliveries” per year – March, June, September, and December. Each shipment includes 3-5 toys selected specifically for the recipient’s age group and gender, allowing for the safest and most fulfilling experience possible. Seeking the best items available, Melissa has built numerous partnerships with European brands, allowing for subscribers to access toys that are hard-to or impossible to find in the United States. Shipping is available domestically, as well as to various international locations.
Not only does Little Pnuts support the advancement of healthy and happy children, but Melissa has also made community development an important part of her mission. To fulfill, ship, and warehouse Little Pnuts’ deliveries, the company depends on the services of Lighthouse Louisiana. This not-for-profit organization provides members of the blind and visually-impaired community with access to “workforce development, independent living, and visual rehabilitation services.”
In celebrating a first two years of success, Melissa shares, “We are proud of the fact that we have continued to remain true to our mission statement, and are thrilled to be giving back.”
