2014 Oscars Dress Inspired Wedding Gowns: Jennifer Lawrence

We all watch the Oscars for different reasons, right? Some love the fashion, others love the craft of film making, others love the fanfare of those gold statues being awarded to honor the best of the best.

Brides to be have a unique perspective, and can gather SOO many ideas from this one simple event! Let’s take a look at some inspirational styles that could work for wedding gowns, AND some inspirational celebrities who are also stylishly charitable.

Our next bridal look is based on the gown worn by Jennifer Lawrence, who rocked the red carpet in a flawless red Dior Couture gown with a fabulous peplum accent. Her simple, slicked-back locks topped off the classic look effortlessly.

While she was part of the cast in “The Hunger Games,” Jennifer and other co-stars partnered with the UN World Food Program (WFP) to raise money and awareness around the issues of global poverty and hunger. The movie itself deals with food scarcity and its subsequent social effects so the tie-in was natural.

“This partnership will help us spread the word that hunger is the world’s greatest solvable problem,” said Nancy Roman, Director of Communications of WFP, in an interview with The Borgen Project. WFP is the largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide.

Jennifer Lawrence also supports Feeding America and The Thirst Project, both non-profit organizations helping people overcome issues of poverty and food/water access.

What can brides take from this look? Peplum skirts are becoming more popular, as is a sleek fit and flare shape. The peplum accent on the dress shown here is actually removable, allowing brides to change their look prior to the reception! The shape of this dress does not call for a lot of heavy accessorizing or a fussy hairstyle. Jennifer’s simple Oscar night hairstyle would be perfection! The wedding gown shown is by Justin Alexander.
