Miss A Columnist

Natasha Kugel is currently living in the bustling city of Washington, DC where she enjoys the local parks with her two dogs and significant other. Having been raised all over the world by military parents Natasha grew up with an innate curiosity for everything new and different. Her favorite thing to do is to visit all the local museums, which DC has an abundance of. If Natasha can’t do that then a good movie with a cup of hot chocolate does the trick! She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Management from Virginia Commonwealth University where she also helped found the Alpha Kappa chapter of Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority. Still following her passion of acting and fashion, Natasha continues to audition for local projects and started her own blog named Two Tails One Closet honoring her two rambunctious pets, Louie and Zeus. She also hopes that one day she can start her own charity to support animal rights to give back to all the pets in her life that gave so much love without asking any in return.

Spring kicked off with a bang on Thursday night with the annual Pink Tie Party to raise funds to support the National Cherry Blossom Festival sponsored by TCMA, Macy’s, The Collection at Chevy Chase, Tysons Galleria, Microsoft, Capitol File Magazine, Agency Q and Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. Guests entered the Ronald Reagan Building to an extraordinary display of fun lights and decorations mimicking the famous Japanese flower. Not to forget the delicious assortment of hors d’oeuvres and colorful drinks with the crowd favorite being root beer floats. While each person enjoyed their plates of food they could indulge in games of chance like ring toss or darts and peruse the many different displays of fashion on live mannequin models.

Another section held the various items up for grabs in the silent auction. Over one hundred pieces were laid out on rows of tables ranging from the Surface 2 Tablet to a David Yurman Figaro Bracelet to a week long getaway in San Miguel de Allende. With all the people clamoring to put their bids down for their favorite giveaway its no surprise that the silent auction was a hit!

Over in a different area guests could get their photo taken with models decked out in Tysons Galleria’s finest as well as participate in their scratcher contest. Just across the way people could also try and guess how many jelly beans where in STK’s wine bottle to win VIP services. With all the great prizes being given away participants had not only themselves but friends and family entering to win.

As the excitement continued to build attendees headed over to yet another area of the building where host Jan Jeffcoat introduced the musical entertainment for the night, Rhythm 6 and DJ Noel Sonkwa, and surprise appearance by Redskins defensive end Chris Baker. For the rest of the evening guests could enjoy tasty cocktails at the Penny Pitch Bar, graciously sponsored by BUBBLES, and dance their cares away. It was the perfect ending to an amazing celebration of Spring and the Cherry Blossom Festival to come.
