Miss A Columnist

Anda Bailey comes to Miss A from the heavy corporate world in an attempt to bring more art and creativity in her life. Born and raised in both Eastern and Western Europe, Anda refuses to abandon her 5’ heels in favor of the relaxed Southern California attire – her slight British accent and sense of style are among the only characteristics that still betray her foreign origins. While educated and trained a corporate lawyer, Anda has left the monstrous law firm days behind her and now focuses on finding and maintaining a healthy balance in her life. With a new love on her arm and two beautiful dogs named Mushu and Wally, she is set to conquer the world while creating and experiencing moments of simple joy and happiness. And by simple we mean planning a small and romantic wedding in Paris set to take place in just a few months. Yes, yes, you can take the girl out of Europe but you can’t take the Parisian nights away form the girl. When she’s not writing about love, life and rare finds in San Diego Anda writes The Tie Chatter http://lordwallington.wordpress.com, a blog about men’s fashion with an emphasis on custom neckwear. And so she embarks in the pursuit of love, marriage, fashion and art, and is making Miss A part of her journey.

ArtReach is a San Diego based non-profit organization that empowers young people through art. They believe that art opens the door to never-ending possibilities and teaches young people to think critically and originally.  They also believe that every child should have the opportunity to make art despite budget cuts and regardless of socioeconomic status. And so, ArtReach takes working artists into K-6 schools throughout San Diego County to provide hands-on visual art education workshops.

On March 23, 2014 ArtReach is partnering with the popular, family-owned restaurant Mia Francesca to offer a special painting class at its location at Del Mar Highlands Town Center. Proceeds from the event’s ticket price will support free visual arts education workshops in local K-6 schools that have no resources for art. During the event, Mia Francesca will offer attendees a special no-host menu featuring house favorites including Chef de Cuisine Woody Benitez’ Pollo Romano, Tilapia Fresca, Spinach Ravioli, Chicken Caesar Salad and a cheese-filled focaccia topped with arugula and speck. And you will also be able to select their favorite reds and whites from Mia Francesca’s wine list. How amazing is that?

So if you like you like to paint or if you simply want to give painting a try for the first time while enjoying a nice meal, a nice glass of Italian wine, come create your own masterpiece at Mia Francesca knowing that you will also be helping arts education in our schools. An ArtReach artist will be there to help you paint a “Flower Close Up” step-by-step. No experience is necessary to participate, just a desire to have a good time and do a good deed! And you don’t have to bring anything; all art materials are included in the ticket price of $45, not to mention that you will be able to enter raffles for theatre tickets and more.
