Miss A Columnist

Carmena Jarrett is a native of Atlanta. The middle daughter of immigrant parents, she always dreamed of being in the entertainment industry. It was while in high school she got the courage to write humorous anecdotes about the daily mundane life of teenage adolescence. After graduating, writing became more than a way of expression, it became love. She pursued a major in Journalism with a minor in African-American Studies at Georgia State University.
While there she earned an internship with Purple Ribbon Records, an Atlanta-based music label headed by Big Boi of hip-hop act Outkast. She quickly learned the behind-the-scenes basics of entertainment. Her BIG personality landed her projects with other artists and venues around the city working with musicians Killer Mike and Anthony David, as well as music venues Sugar Hill and 595 North Event Center. When she is not freelance writing you can find her compulsively shopping with friends and family, cooking, or doing Pilates.

Now that that pesky Super Bowl is over a REAL game can begin. Blondes vs. Brunettes(BvB) Atlanta inaugural registration season is upon us. The powder puff flag football game will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association Georgia Chapter. BvB will host its introduction and informational meeting at Yard House in Atlantic Station. Started in 2005, by a group of Washington DC women who each have  personal connections with the disease. BvB wanted a friendly yet competitive way to help in the fight in curing Alzheimer.

Over 25 cities across the nation have played host to the BvB football games, and Atlanta will be no different with participants ready to rough each other up for a good cause. The BvB game has raise over $2 million, numerous supporters, corporate sponsors, and much needed awareness in the fight against Alzheimer. If running up and down the field is not your thing, don’t worry you can show your support for your team and the organization by becoming  cheerleader. Put on your best Texas size smile and strut your stuff.

Come out and meet future teammates, coaches, and the Executive Committee for a worthwhile cause or better yet come out and size the competition up. This is the first battle in the never-ending war between Blondes and Brunettes, who will claim number one? Are you ready for some football? Hope so, these ladies mean business.
