Notable as the wife of former Miami Dolphin cornerback, Sam Madison, Saskia Madison has made a name for herself as a determined advocate for the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA)Her constant efforts will be recognized during the 24th Annual Book of Hope Luncheon on March 17 at the Boca Raton Resort & Club.  Bestselling author of It’s Not Just Who You KnowTommy Spaulding, will be the Keynote Speaker.

Afflicted with Crohn’s Disease for years, Saskia managed her illness in silence – taking multiple pills a day; managing the concerned looks from friends over constant bathroom breaks; and the never-ending pain caused by flare-ups. Now a major voice for the challenged faced by those suffering from digestive diseases, Saskia has become one of CCFA’s most outspoken proponents. Several years ago, she joined with the CCFA in the annual Take Steps fundraiser, and then completed the Team Challenge Napa-to-Sonoma Wine Country Half Marathon in July 2013. Between the events, the pharmacist spoke out about her disease, appearing on numerous news programs, and in newspapers and magazines to openly share her struggles with the disease, and to share the invaluable research and support the Foundation gives to those afflicted. Last May, Saskia and her husband hosted a key fund and friend-raiser for CCFA, and this January she was elected to the Board of Directors of the Foundation.

“Living with Crohn’s disease has been an up and down battle for me for many years,” says Madison. “The closer we get to finding a cure, the less we have to worry about future generations living with the same challenges I do.”
