Snow Mountain Ranch of the YMCA of the Rockies is located in Granby, Colorado and provides several options for a good time, including wall climbing,  nordic skiing, snow shoeing and a variety of many other activities.  One of the most exciting of them all is the dog sledding. The dog sledding is fairly new to Snow Mountain Ranch, they are only in the second year but, it has proven to be a great success, and one of the main attractions. They host dog sledding events every Thursday and Saturday, and will continue through the end of March.

Anna, Chrissy, Delilah, Eli, Glacier, Glacier Jr., Indigo, Nance,  Ricky, Rosie, Samson, Tip, Yukon,  Ziggy, and Zoey are all huskies that make up the dog sledding team.  Most of the visitors are extremely interested in the dog sledding team, and become attached to them. All of the dogs have their own personality (as all dogs do) and their biographies can be found on the Snow Mountain Ranch website. Keep in mind that the biographies are extremely cute and you may be inclined to head to Winter Park right away to bask in all of the cuteness.

Anyone that has ever had a dog can attest to the fact that taking care of those wonderful creatures can be a lot of work. Snow Mountain Ranch provides all sixteen of their puppies with food, transportation, housing, and veterinary care, not to mention many other services. The cost of each dog per year is roughly $3,000, and that does not include equipment, trail grooming, and other things that are important to keep the program running smoothly.

With the program growing and costs increasing, Snow Mountain Ranch has created a donation fund for the little pups called Power Our Team. You can choose which dog you would like to sponsor, pictures are on the donation form which can be found online. Donation options range from $14.50 to sponsor your dog for a week to $12,000 in order sponsor the whole team for a year. There is also another option to choose an unspecified amount.

If you want to see the huskies sled, the ranch hosts events every Thursday and Saturday through the duration of March. To make a reservation please visit the Dog Sledding page.
