Wicked Returns To Tennessee Performing Arts Center In Nashville

Declared “A Cultural Phenomenon” by Variety and “The Best Musical of the Decade” by Entertainment Weekly, the production broke TPAC box office records, swiftly selling out its 2009 and 2011 Nashville performances.

“The national tour of WICKED is a phenomenon that continues to captivate Nashville audiences,” said Kathleen O’Brien, TPAC president and chief executive officer. “Each of the show’s previous three-week engagements here at TPAC was seen by more than 57,000 people, and it remains one of the most requested titles each year. We are absolutely thrilled to have it back.”

Directed by two-time Tony® winner, Joe Mantello, the production is based on the 1995 best-selling novel, WICKED: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, by Gregory Maguire. The musical tells the untold tale of two young, unlikely friends in the Land of Oz: The smart and fiery, Elphaba, and the ambitious and popular, Glinda.  Set to the music of Academy Award®-winner Stephen Schwartz, the musical chronicles the two girls’ growth into the iconic Wicked and Good witches of the Land of Oz.

Performing in New York, London, Tokyo, Australia, New Zealand, Seoul, and Mexico City, as well as a U.K. Tour, and two concurrent North American National Tours, the musical continues to be a success, extending across countries and cultures.
