The looks of MILLY by Michelle Smith Fall 2014 collection can only be described with a collective, “aaahhhh”. The color palate brings a casual, modern sophistication in a Parisian-meets-New Yorker-on-a-crisp-Fall-afternoon-in-Central-Park kind of way. Which makes sense, considering the designer studied under French phenoms such as Hermes and Dior before launching her label in 2000. The color palette takes influence from stages of nightfall – feminine front notes from blush to onyx including reflective metallics inspired by moonlight. With cream hues and deep blue and black textures for a bold after taste, these pieces may cause you to book reservations at The NoMad before heading to the ballet. Bons Bons not included.
How She’s Making A Difference:
Michelle Smith has been on the board of directors for March of Dimes since 2007 and started a Milly sale to raise money for the cause. Every year, current Milly looks are discounted and 100% of the proceeds from the sale go to the charity. “March of Dimes is a wonderful charity that works to prevent childhood birth defects and premature births. I have two little children…so this charity is very important to me.”
Save The Garment Center: Designer Michelle Smith of MILLY supported Save The Garment Center on Project Runway Allstars. The winning look designed by Seth Aaron is still being sold at MILLY stores and millyny.com with 100% of the profits going to Save the Garment Center! The survival of NYC’s garment industry is still an important issue, with everything from rising rent to outsourcing posing a threat, so its nice to see Michelle Smith of MILLY supporting another great cause.
