Think Napa Valley wines paired with a scrumptious five exclusive course dinner in the beautiful Del Mar. Perfection! And that is precisely what Mia Francesca is offering its guests on the evening of February 20, 2014. If you’re not yet familiar with Mia Francesca, a nationwide family of restaurants, you must give the Del Mar location a try.
The restaurant was created by acclaimed restaurateur, Scott Harris and offers famous rustic Italian cuisine, friendly service and prices that will have you going back.
The restaurant features a large open patio, indoor trattoria style dining, and a fifty person private dining room. And with Chef Woody Benitez leading the kitchen, Mia Francesca offers classic fare of zesty, earthy cuisine of Rome and the surrounding areas of Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio.
On Thursday, February 20, 2014, Mia Francesca will host a five-course winemaker series dinner featuring Spring Mountain Vineyard of Napa Valley. Dinner starts at 7 p.m. with Spring Mountain Vineyard representative Scotty Barbour presenting the guests with five incredible wines, each paired with a savory dish created exclusively for the occasion by Chef de Cuisine Woody Benitez. Here’s a snapshot at the five pairings:
- Sauvignon blanc paired with risotto cakes with goat cheese and wild mushrooms
- Chardonnay paired with seared salmon with arugula, fennel, slow roasted tomatoes and chardonnay dressing
- Syrah paired with venison carpaccio with creamy mustard, capers and red onion
- “Elivette,” a popular red blend, paired with braised lamb in a Syrah reduction with polenta
- Cabernet Sauvignon paired with filet mignon with gorgonzola cream sauce, spinach and mushrooms.
Everything sounds divine and artfully paired. And if you are still debating, let me tell you that this amazing dinner is offered to guests for only $85 per person. Really not a bad price for such a comprehensive menu particularly if you have a special occasion to celebrate or simply want to go out on a nice dinner with your friends or significant other.
Mia Francesca is a family-owned business and Spring Mountain Vineyard was founded by a relative of the restaurant’s event manager Patrice Benitez and co-owner Dana Chrisos. Not to mention that Mia Francesca has a full fundraising Eat and Earn program which supports local schools and nonprofit organizations. Personally, I am a big fan of family-owned businesses supporting each other, and, most importantly, of businesses that give back to their communities so this dinner definitely gets my endorsement.
