Miss A Columnist

Ashley C. Jones is the Entertainment Editor for Miss A. She is a writer, and soon to be entrepreneur (stay tuned). She earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Communication Arts and also minored in International Studies at St. John’s University in NY. The minor was stumbled upon thanks to a semester in various countries, which sort of qualifies her as well traveled.

A native to nowhere, Ashley has spent most of her life living in either Houston, TX or Illinois suburbs. She now lives in NY. While further honing her writing skills in her last year of University education, and after, she found her niche in doing interviews, a great fit, because of a natural obsession with docu-dramas, magazine interviews, and documentaries, starting at an extremely young age.

Some of Ashley’s favorite charities include Vitamin Angels, The ASPCA, and Alzheimer’s Association. She’s extremely awkward in front of a camera, has an artistic temperament despite not really being an artist (yet), and is passionate about organic produce, vintage thrifting, art, music, yoga, and lots of other things!

Go Red for Women And The Heart Truth Red Dress Collection 2014 Fashion Show

Since 2003, The Red Dress Collection has kicked off Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week with celebrities  sizzling down the runway, sporting jaw-dropping designer red dresses.  More than 900 fashion-forward, health-minded attendees turned out in red to support the cause.

“It’s an exciting night for the leaders in the fight against heart disease and icons of fashion to come together,” said Martine Reardon, Chief Marketing Officer of Macy’s. “With the star power of both celebrities and designers, including the young designers of the Fashion Incubators housed at Macy’s across the country, this was an evening that gave credence to the true power of red and its ability to unite so many in the movement for women’s heart health.”

The  show opened with remarks from Nancy Brown, CEO of the American Heart Association, and Macy’s Fashion Incubator and CMO, Martine Reardon.  Star Jones, who in addition to being an attorney, author, and TV personality is also an American Heart Association National Volunteer, and in her opening remarks she urged us all to not do as she did and figure out too late in life that “…health is my greatest asset”.

The music screamed: this is an event for fun and fierce women, and tunes like Who Run the World by Beyoncé, and Reputation by Joan Jett, who actually walked in the show, played as the wide array of influential celebrity models made the runway theirs.  Of the many designers who showcased dazzling red dresses and ensembles at last nights show, Zac PosenPamela RolandBadgley MischkaNicole MillerCarolina HerreraDonna KarenDennis Basso, BCBG,and Carmen Marc Valvoall had or will be having their own individual shows this week. We hope you will go online and check out Go Red For Women and The Heart Truth and consider getting involved in your community.  Here’s a peek at some of the fabulous celebs and dresses from the show.
