Join the Lyric Opera of Chicago‘s Guild Board of Directors on Jan. 31 as they present the annual Fantasy of the Opera gala fundraiser. Themed “Petals and Pearls,” this year’s event is Japanese culture influenced. The scene will be set in a Japanese garden, and the night will include special performances and demonstrations of taiko drummers, origami making, and an ikebana floral showcase. Additionally, sushi and sake tastings hors d’oeurves will be provided. The night is also inspired by the Lyric Opera’s new production of Madama Butterfly.
Guests will also be entertained by a special Cabaret performance in the Ardis Krainik Theatre. Classic Broadway songs and selections from the American songbook will be performed from the musical styling of star singers from the Lyric Opera’s current season. Music director Sir Andrew Davis will serve as master of ceremonies.
Rendezvous will provide music for guests to dance the night away to in the Daniel F. and Ada L. Rice Grand Foyer. Raffle and silent auction will also be featured at the event. Valet parking is complimentary to all guests.
