Miss A Columnist

LaTasha Clanton is the Atlanta Editor for Miss A. She is a mother of three beautiful daughters and wife to Jason. While her husband was in the military she attended Kansas State University where she majored in Political Science with a minor in Journalism. When her husband got called to two wars she decided to pursue her real passion while she waited for her solider to return home. She graduated from the Community School of Cosmetology in 2003. Once he returned she uprooted her family to the Atlanta area where she could begin to accomplish her goals. She is a fashion savvy stylist, who specializes in hair, make-up, and overall wardrobe. Style ambassador for Socialbliss, urban fashion blogger on her own blog Urbanstylequeen.com, a freelance fashion journalist, and maintaining a full time job by day. Attending Bauder College in Atlanta, GA she is majoring in Fashion Design and minor’s in Fashion Merchandising. She considers herself to be Superwoman as an alter ego. Her faith and spirituality is one of the reasons why she supports Ovarian Cancer Research, Breast Cancer Walks, and a variety or charities and organizations that deal with Cancer Research, Women’s Empowerment, and Children’s Rights. She contributes all of her dedication and hard work to her grandmother Virgiline Green who died Ovarian Cancer, and all of the women in her family living or deceased who helped and inspired her to always have a giving heart, a strong faith, and the determination to succeed.

In observance of Dr. Martin Luther King’s 85th birthday, The King’s Center will honor those for exceptional efforts toward’s building Dr. King’s community. The Salute To Greatness Award is considered to be one of the King’s Center’s highest honors. This award recognizes national and international individuals or organizations that have shown leadership and commitment towards the philosophy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In 1983 this award was given out for the first time by Mrs. Coretta Scott King.

Individual honoree for the evening will be Heavyweight Boxing Champion, Philanthropist and Humanitarian Muhammad Ali. Corporate Honoree Xerox Corporation and Ms. Ursula Burns Chairman and CEO. 2014 Coretta Scott King Angel Award Corporate Honoree will be One Billion Raising Campaign and Ms. Eve Ensler Tony Award winning Playwright and Founder. Individual Honoree  Ms. Khalida Brohi Founder and Director of Sughar.

The evening provides a reception, dinner, and after-glow reception.
