Fashion Saves Lives Fundraiser To Benefit The American Breast Cancer Foundation

FashionSavesLives2014 copyOn Tuesday, January 14th, spend a stylish evening at Fashion Saves Lives with a few of Baltimore’s favorite local celebrities. The inaugural fashion show fundraiser will be hosted by The American Breast Cancer Foundation in conjunction with The Johns Hopkins Breast Center at the Bayview campus. Funds raised via ticket sales and sponsorships will be utilized to provide grants for both screening and diagnostic mammograms for those who cannot otherwise afford them.

Held at Port Discovery, one of Baltimore’s most fun and interactive museums, the fashion show will showcase the latest holiday fashions from Jos. A. Bank and local clothier Jones & Jones of Cross Keys. As an apropos tribute to the importance of breast cancer screening, the majority of the models strutting the catwalk are themselves breast cancer survivors treated at the Johns Hopkins Breast Center. Two local survivors, Shay Sharpe and Judy Devanzo, overcame their individual battles with breast cancer to begin their own foundations, Shay Sharpe’s Pink Wishes and CaringOn, respectively.

Guest models joining these strong survivors on the runway include fitness guru Lynne Brick of Brick Bodies, WBAL-TV‘s Sarah Caldwell, and our own Superbowl Champion Baltimore Raven Ed Dickson. Ravens linebacker Jameel McClain will also mingle with guests in the VIP lounge prior to the show, along with Miss Delmarva 2014 Diana Mitchell, and Miss Maryland Collegiate America 2014 Vinielle Acha-Morfaw. The entire evening will be directed by emcee Keith Scott of the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce, and DJ Jus-Spin will keep guests moving to the music. Excel Lighting will illuminate this fashionable night out, sponsored by HeidnSeek Entertainment and B Woman Magazine.

As guests arrive, all are welcome to explore the hands-on museum while experiencing a “Taste of Baltimore” from a few of the city’s top restaurants, including Joe Squared and Nalley Fresh, as well as a cash bar. By upgrading to a VIP ticket, guests can mingle with the models and dine on catered cuisine in the VIP lounge prior to enjoying reserved seating for the runway show. Most importantly, a VIP ticket will purchase one screening mammogram for a client of the American Breast Cancer Foundation, perhaps the best gift one could give this holiday season.
