No fashion journey would be complete without taking your look to the next level through the use of the perfect charitable accessory, right? But it’ not in your closet. It’s at Bloomingdales. In celebration of the Super Bowl XLVIII, and in support of The National Football League Foundation, The CFDA and Bloomingdale’s have joined forces on a unique collaboration of one-of-a-kind football helmets.
The forty-eight helmets will be auctioned off to benefit The NFL Foundation, a nonprofit organization which supports educational football programs, health and safety measures in sports, and community health initiatives. “This is the first time that the Super Bowl will be held in the New York region and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate by joining Bloomingdale’s and the NFL in merging fashion and sports with the creation of these unique helmets,” says Steven Kolb, CFDA CEO.
Not only are these helmets tres chic, but 100% of the net proceeds will benefit the NFL Foundation. Through it’s grant programs the Foundation supports youth and high school football programs, health and safety efforts, as well as community health initiatives, including NFL PLAY 60. ”We are excited to team up with Bloomingdale’s and the CDFA to auction off designer Super Bowl XLVIII helmets to support the work of the NFL Foundation,” said Natara Holloway, the NFL’s Vice President of Consumer Products. “This unique collaboration is another way for fans of football and fashion to get closer to the game and be a part of the Super Bowl XLVIII festivities happening all across the New York-New Jersey region.”
Each designer was given a white Riddell NFL helmet, with no instructions. The results, are many exclusive, super chic, one-of-a-kind designs. ” We tried to make it very representative of the two of us, which is why it’s bejeweled, but still looks like it’s ready to kick some butt, said Danielle Snyder and Jodie Snyder , Designers of Dannijo.” Some of the participating CFDA Designers include: Badgley Mischka, Dennis Basso, Betsey Johnson, Rachel Zoe, Marchesa, Diane von Furstenberg, Blake Mycoskie for Toms, and Catherine Malandrino.
The helmets will be unveiled in the iconic Bloomingdale’s 59th Street windows on January 15 at 5:00pm. Fans may visit Bloomingdales.com/superbowlhelmets to access the NFL Auction and bid on the designer Super Bowl XLVIII helmets from January 15 – February 4, The minimum bid for each helmet will be $248.
