Meera Rajagopalan is the Austin Editor for Miss A. A proud Longhorn, Meera earned her journalism degree from UT. Some of her hobbies include event planning, writing and baking. She loves trying new recipes and experimenting with food. Her latest creation was Pistachio Fudge. A tech nerd at heart, Meera loves cool iPhone apps and geeking out with friends about social media trends. Aside from the tech stuff, Meera also enjoys discovering new fonts. There’s something about finding the perfect font to help enhance titles. Besides her hobbies, Meera loves free stuff. So far besides tons of samples, she’s won concert tickets, movie passes (compliments of Do512) and a cooking class.

Austin Gives 2014 GeneroCity Awards

Join Mayor Leffingwell and keynote speaker John Paul DeJoria, as they celebrate the giving spirit of Austin. The  Austin Gives 2014 GeneroCity Awards Luncheon will honor local organizations that have given back to the community. This event will bring together the most philanthropic businesses in Austin and the non-profits they support.

Austin Gives is an organization that recognizes business philanthropy in the city. For the awards luncheon, there are three categories that have three finalists in each of them. For small businesses, Charitable Companions: Alt Creative, Sabre Commercial, and Zuma Office Supply. For medium-sized businesses, Big Hearts: Realty Austin and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. And for the big businesses, Bold Givers: eBay, Silicon Labs and The Advisory Board Company.

John Paul’s keynote will include the importance of business philanthropy. Besides being the Co-Founder of John Paul Mitchel Systems and Patrón Spirits, John Paul is also co-founder of JP’s Peace, Love & Happiness Foundation, an organization that  invests in charities that share the core values of his companies — sustainability, social responsibility and animal-friendliness.Also, Bobby Jenkins, Austin Gives’ Board Chair and President of ABC Home & Commercial Services, will talk about the inception of Austin Gives.
