The After-School-All-Stars (ASAS-LA) hosted their inaugural DESIGNING DREAMS Holiday Fashion Show and Toy Drive at the beautiful London West Hollywood on December 11, 2013. The ASAS-LA was founded by then Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2002. The After-School Program helps to “…educate, enlighten and inspire thousands of students each day…” Kobe Bryant has been the National Ambassador for ASAS-LA Program for the past 6 years and “has provided tremendous support and life changing experiences to All-Star students.”
The host for DESIGNING DREAMS was Riquel (Riqi) Olander of the all all-female dance crew We are Heroes. Some of the most forward thinking local and not so local Designers showed off their fashion collections: Kara Saun a “standout designer” from Project Runway; SENsational fashion from SEN Couture; boho-chic style from Young Fabulous & Broke; Funky, Streetwise Miguel Torres; luxurious latex couture from Westward Bound; inspired by music and movement My White T; Bright and Glamorous Designs from Lurelly; Astrella a “high-end lifestyle brand”; Bella Don a for those living “Mi Vida Loca”; Teruo Artistry “creative lifestyle brand”; Mixed Up Clothing winner of Red Tricycle’s 2013 Awesome Awards for Most Awesome Clothing Line for Girls; and Honey B Gold inspired by the intersection of Hip Hop, Art and Fashion.
Jesse Lee Santos, choreographer to the stars, was the choreographer to the very talented ASAS-LA Dance and Fashion students, as well as 13-year -old artist, Skyler Grey often compared to Jean-Michel Basquiat. The renowned John Paul Mitchell Systems styling team crafted the hairstyles while the CAO Cosmetics finished off the look with their beautiful makeup.
The hors d’oeuvres were designed by internationally acclaimed, Chef Gordon Ramsay’s culinary team. The VIP cocktail reception was courtesy of BeSpoke Collection. DESIGNING DREAMS was produced by 33 Productions.
