Skip Supper For Others In Philadelphia

Philadelphia is a city filled with wonderful organizations and charities which span many categories and charitable giving realms. One skip supper for othersorganization which helps Philadelphia residents is Skip Supper for Others. This charity was initiated in order to raise money to help Philadelphians through various avenues. Board members Marie Lynch, Mike Solomonov, Paul Verna and Steve Cook came up with this creative fundraising organization to help those in their city meet their basic needs.

Skip Supper for Others revolves around the concept of asking those who dine at participating restaurants to skip an appetizer or a dessert and then add that amount to the total of their bill at the end of the meal or simply make a donation when they pay their check. Something as easy as doing without a food item during the lunch or dinner can be used to help others in the Philadelphia area. The money donated will be given to particular local charities in order to help those organizations fulfill their goals.

The statistics are staggering to say the least. Slightly less than half of a million Greater Philadelphia residents currently live in poverty. Without the necessary funds to live on, many of these individuals are not properly fed and nourished. Food pantries in Philadelphia face food shortages from time to time and often find that they don’t have the manpower to serve those in need. Skip Supper for Others has come up with a way to help these food pantries and similar Philadelphia organizations to serve those who need the help and have the resources available to do so.

Skip Supper for Others is currently hosting an event from December 9 – December 16 where restaurant diners at Federal Donuts, Bistrot La Minette, Percy Street Barbecue, Zahav, Zavino and Southwark can opt to add on a donation at the end of their meal. This donation will go directly towards helping Broad Street Ministry achieve its goals. Broad Street Ministry is a local ministry which offers many services to the homeless in our area and those facing financial difficulties, amongst other things.

Join Skip Supper for Others and help those in our community to get the food and basic necessities which are so important. Attend this event or future Skip Supper for Others events to help make these fundraising efforts possible.
