On this year’s #givingtuesday, Tuesday December 3rd, New Yorkers gathered from all five boroughs to attend the clothing drive held by Mommy Nearest, Giggle, at the 92nd Y to support Baby Buggy. It was a wonderful event that encouraged families to bring their children to show them what charity and giving back on this special day is really all about!

After walking through the front doors of the 92nd Y, you were instructed to walk over to the contribution bins and drop off your donations of lightly used or new clothing and toys. Once your contribution was made, each person was given a sticker to write on and  fill in the blanks of this sentence: “I gave ____ this #givingthuesday.” Most families gave their children the opportunity to decide what to write and then attach the sticker to a large board where a sea of contributions were listed. Each family member was also given a t-shirt for making their donations.

After the contributions were made, you and your family had the chance to walk outside and hop in the Holiday Motorbooth and take some very fun un-selfie photographs with your whole family! The pictures turned out amazing and everyone had such a great time dressing silly and smiling for the camera. Each contributor walked away with a printout of their images and were also emailed them for sharing as well.

Overall, the event was a success for bringing in a very large amount of donations as well as being a fantastic opportunity for children to participate and learn about the importance of giving this holiday season.
