Put on your tackiest Christmas sweater and get ready to run the Snowflake 5K, sponsored by Prevent Child Abuse Tennessee (PCAT). The race will be held on Saturday, December 14th, in East Nashville’s Shelby Bottoms Park. Even if you don’t consider yourself a runner, this 5K is bound to be fun for the entire family. Dogs are actually encouraged to participate, as there will be a prize given out for the Most Festive Dog. Matching dog-and-owner Christmas sweaters are highly encouraged.
This race is PCAT’s largest annual fundraiser. PCAT works to prevent child abuse in Tennessee by strengthening families and educating individuals about the prevalence of abuse within households. The organization was established in 1984 and has now grown to serve all 95 counties in Tennessee. PCAT holds a very important role in our home state, and participating in the Snowflake 5K would help their cause tremendously. Plus, how could you possibly complain about an excuse to wear a tacky Christmas sweater?
On race day, PCAT will be setting up an onsite donation center for all those who wish to provide more aid to the organization. There will also be a diaper donation center near the registration tables; all runners are encouraged to bring a pack of diapers between sizes 1-6.
So come out on December 14th to Shelby Bottom Park and get ready to burn off some off those delectable winter goodies! This is one race you won’t want to miss.
